  1. Congratulations!
My name is Raychel and I live at Twin Oaks Community, in Louisa, Virginia. I am always thrilled to see new communities forming and getting off the ground. To this end I would like to let you know about and invite you to the annual Twin Oaks Communities Conference I think that The Twin Oaks Communities Conference would be a great opportunity for you and for all your like-minded participants.

Here’s a bit more about the conference. The Communities Conference is a three-day event hosted at Twin Oaks Community ( in Louisa, Virginia over Labor Day weekend, 2012. Attendees will learn about communities of all kinds — co-housing, co-ops, communes and eco-villages — at one of the best-known intentional communities in North America. At the conference, you and your community members can attend workshops on connectivity and nonviolent communication, group decision-making and dynamics, ecological responsibility and resource sharing and so much more.

What makes this year’s conference different is that we will be focusing on broader ways of creating community and living communally. In particular, we have a “resource sharing” theme this year as we want to encourage folks not only to live communally but to partake in worker-owned businesses, car cooperatives, land sharing, etc. We feel that this is important in light of the Occupy Movement. Not everyone who dislikes the current mainstream “system” may be able to live truly communally, but perhaps they can create community and share in other ways…

The sooner you sign up the less costly it is and we also offer scholarships, for those in need. Register early for savings!
*Early Bird registration: February 1 – June 15* $85 Just over two weeks left for this level
    Tier 1 registration: June 16 – July 20 $90

The Communities Conference is a networking and learning opportunity for anyone interested or involved in co-operative or communal lifestyles. We invite you to join dozens of fellow community-minded folks for a weekend of workshops, community-building, and fun!

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    In Community,
