Today we started applying some of what we learned from our tree seminar. The results were not pretty, but we hope that in the long run they will help our fruit trees.
We put spreaders on the branches to make them grow “out” not “up”. We staked the trees to try to get them to grow straight.
It looks like we’re trying to create some kind of weird art with our trees.
Roger Dotterweich, the “tree guy” who gave the seminar, says that trees are like children – you have to “discipline” them so they do what they are supposed to do.
We’ll see if it works…
