Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;

I often tell my friends and family, when someone has wronged them or a relationship has hit a difficult point, “What is your hope and vision for that person?”

Have you ever thought about the fact that God has a hope and a vision for every one of his children?

Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I used to be annoyed when street preachers would accost strangers and say “Did you know that Jesus loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life?” But as I have lived in that encompassing love of Christ I have come to realize the statement is true, even if the approach is “not my style.”

Jesus loves me, and He has a plan for my life. Satan hates me, and wants to destroy God’s plan for my life and prevent me from fulfilling my destiny in Christ. This is true of me, and it is true of every other man and woman ever created.

So when I am frustrated or angry with another, whether Christian or non-Christian, I try to remember that, and I try to see them as God sees them – individuals, created in the image of God – created for a purpose and deeply loved by their Father.

If I want to serve my Father in these situations, I will give preference to others; I will humble myself and seek the welfare of others. I will honor Jesus’ command to “Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.” And I will choose to remember that God has a perfect plan for each person. God has hope and a vision for each of us.
