Vermiculture (Nancy Mansfield)

We need to get this one in while there’s still time …

Nancy Mansfield will be joining us to explain how to start a “worm farm”. This one might be fun for the kids! For us, it’s one of the things we want to incorporate into our farm operation. Hence the need to fit it in when Nancy is available and before the gardening season gets underway hot and heavy.
Suggested resource: “Worms eat my Garbage” by Mary Appelhof ISBN 0-942256-10-7 (book is not required for the meeting)

2009.03.17 Follow Up

Lunch table discussion among the guys centered on the message at Tony’s church, which was on the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We discussed the definitions and roles of the various church offices (Pastor, Teacher, Evangelist, Prophet, Apostle), whether those offices were still valid, etc. I’m going to try to get a copy of the notes from Tony and I will post them here.

The women, at the other end of the table, discussed David Wilkerson’s recent prophecy http://davidwilkersontoday.blogspot.com/2009/03/urgent-message.html.

After lunch Nancy showed us some coconut koir, we discussed how to successfully raise and feed worms, and we all took a “field trip” to the basement to see our newly acquired “worm farm”. In the process we discovered that our worms had an infestation of red mites, which we are attempting to control.
The following is a list of the garbage that people can save for us if they want to help feed the worms.

Update to HOLIDAY NOTE: March 17 was St. Patrick’s day; I was planning on having something for the kids, but the week got away from me and it totally slipped my mind. Randy reminded me and I still didn’t “get it” because I hadn’t been keeping up with the forum. My apologies – so far we’ve missed Purim and St. Patrick’s Day. I’ll try to do better in the future.
